Rhizome

Evolving Sculpture (2022)

plywood, spray paint, brown paper

20” x 16” x 13”

Rhizome is designed to be illusive and ever changing, through pieces that fit together like a puzzle with no right answer. There is no up or down, no right or wrong. The sculpture does something through interaction that plays with viewers mind while constructing new formations.

The bright finish acts as queer coding where the colorful camouflage finish makes complicated any expectations visual clarity. Through reflecting the 3 dimensional form of the pieces, the spray painted finish adds layers of opacity. The sculpture plays with shape, form, and color to create wonder and potentiality while experiencing the piece.
